How to set up Dial-Up Networking in Windows 2000

Here's how you set up Windows 2000 Dial-Up Networking to access the Internet through an Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Part 1: Making A New Dial-Up Networking Connection

Please Note Replace YOURISP with, inwi.net
1. Click Start, Settings, Dial-Up Networking .
 Lower Left Corner
2. Click Make New Connection.

Then Next

NOTE: Sometimes the My Computer window isn't large enough to display the Dial-Up Networking icon. If you don't see it at first, try scrolling the window down with the scrollbar at the right of the window.
3. In the next window, you should see one icon marked Make New Connection.

Type In YOURISP NAME.

4. Click Configure for Modem Set Maximum speed to 38400
5. Click OK button at the bottom.
6. Put the phone number of . (The number to use is XXX-XXXX.
7. The Country Code: line should read "United States of America". If not, change it to that by clicking on the button with the upside down triangle on it to the right.
8. Click on the Next button at the bottom of the window.
10. Click on Finish at the bottom of this window, and close out any windows that you have open.

You've now created a Dial-Up Networking connection icon. Now all we need to do is configure it for use with YourISP.

Configuring your Dial-Up Networking Connection

1. Right-click on the your Dial-Up Account  icon. Left Click Properties.
  
2. Double-check Phone Number XXX-XXXX Local Colville WA.

NOTE: Sometimes the My Computer window isn't large enough to display the Dial-Up Networking icon. If you don't see it at first, try scrolling the window down with the scrollbar at the right of the window.

If you still can't find it after scrolling down, you may need to install Dial-Up Networking..
3. Networking Icon

NOTE: If a window marked "Connect to" comes up when you try this step, you double-clicked with your right button. Close the "Connect to" window and try this step again, clicking once this time.
4. Dialing Icon

Then Ok and Dial 
5. Enter your username@yourisp.com

Now Click Connect
